The startup
Building Envelope Materials has developed and commercialized Pinhole Insulation™, a minimally invasive retrofit insulation technology that results in 25 percent energy savings in existing buildings.
The partnership
Building Envelope Materials has been engaged with CertainTeed/Saint-Gobain since 2014 to develop new materials for its Pinhole Insulation™ technology and for CertainTeed’s related COMFORTFILL™ technology. Together, they have insulated about 30 buildings.
An assist from the ecosystem
As a recipient of five MassCEC grant awards and two US Department of Energy grant awards, Building Envelope Materials has been able to provide validation of various aspects of the technology throughout the engagement with CertainTeed/Saint-Gobain.
